adding a hot tub
Adding a Hot Tub
Hot tubs are a wonderful addition to any
home, offering an array of benefits. Not only do they offer
improved health, but they also help to increase social opportunities
and bring immense enjoyment all year round. If you are considering
adding a hot tub or spa, to your deck or backyard there
are several factors that should be taken into consideration.
Hot tub installation requires a lot of
planning. The first two things that should be considered
include the location and the proper structural support.
You can choose to have your hot tub located either in doors
or out doors. Keep in mind, however, that if you install
your hot tub outdoors you will need it to be supported by
a slab of concrete. Other surfaces may settle over time
and damage the functionality of your hot tub. In addition,
indoor hot tubs require sufficient ventilation.
The next factors to consider are the installation
requirements which include an electrical circuit, gas line,
plumbing and a pad for the tub to sit on. Also, keep in
mind that if you are installing your hot tub on an existing
deck, you will most likely need to hire an engineer to design
additional support to accommodate the weight of the hot
tub.
Adding a hot tub also creates the need
for extra seating, lighting, and possible shelter. Consider
building some benches around your hut tub to accommodate
to the crowd of people it may attract. You will also need
a certain amount of lighting to ensure safety during the
night.
In addition, consider building some sort
of a shelter over your hot tub to protect it from outside
weathering such as winds, rain, and sun. Sheltering your
hot tub will also keep out small animals and insects. You
will be able to fully enjoy your experience all year round.
