Free Up Some Additional Space
Has your house become a one giant accumulation
of clutter? It is very common for homeowners to gradually
collect a lot of belongings and clutter over the years.
It becomes an issue when you fail to get rid of the things
that you no longer use or need. Suddenly you begin to notice
that every hidden corner of your house is crammed with "stuff!"
The good news is that there are many ways
to tackle the nuisance of clutter, however, some are more
expensive then others. Some adjustments may require you
to remodel a room, build an attachment, or make other difficult
changes. Other adjustments are simple, less expensive, and
can be done without the help of a professional. As you can
see there are easy, cheap, difficult and expensive ways
to create more space. It all depends on what works best
with your budget and your living situation.
It is natural to feel overwhelmed by the
challenge of organizing clutter. It is especially difficult
when the pile seems never ending. The best way to approach
this task is to categorize your belongings. Clear everything
out bit by bit and put it into piles of relevance. You'll
quickly find that most of the stuff you have accumulated
over the years just doesn't seem to have a purpose or meaning
at all. This "stuff" will be the first to go. You'll be
amazed at how much space can be created by a simple sweep
through.
Once you have decided on what it staying
and what is going, it is often a good idea to invest in
storage enhancements. Using the storage space you currently
have and utilizing it efficiently with simple enhancements
can make your living space more organized, practical and
spacious. Storage enhancers include under sink organizers,
cabinet organizers, closet organizers, pull out trays, sliding
baskets, and pull out shelves. Any local handyman can assist
you in assembling these helpful storage units.
If you are still short of space, you may
need to consider tackling a task a little bit larger then
cleaning and organizing. Remodeling your attic and or basement
is a wonderful way to enhance your living conditions and
make more storage room. Attics can be given new flooring
and lighting to enable shelving units for storage. Basements
can also be made more effectively by installing shelving,
enhancing the lighting and creating additional closet space.
Last but not least, you can create plenty
of new space by adding an addition to your home. This, of
course, is the most expensive route, but there is no doubt
that more room will be created. Most additions will require
that an architect or carpenter be hired to help with the
design and construction.
