Kitchen Flooring Options
Kitchen floors, just like kitchen countertops,
should be durable, stain resistant, and pleasing to the
eye. When selecting a flooring option, keep in mind that
flooring can accent the counters, cabinets, and appliances
surrounding it. With this noted, the material you choose
should accommodate not only to the amount of wear and tear
you suspect your floors with receive, but also to the overall
appearance you are looking for.
The most durable kitchen floor materials
include vinyl or ceramic tiles, laminate, and polyurethane-coated
wood. Vinyl floors are hard-wearing and offer an endless
amount of colors and patterns to choose from. They are also
reasonably priced, low maintenance and resistant to scuffs
and stains. Tile is also durable and allows you to enjoy
the variety of sizes, colors and patterns to choose from.
Laminate flooring looks much like hardwood flooring, but
it offers you the durability and low maintenance associated
with vinyl. Hardwood provides many different natural looks
and can easily be cleaned with a broom, but wood also requires
a certain amount of maintenance.
In addition, concrete and stone flooring
offer great benefits which include being the best in radiant
heat and creating a warm natural appearance. Both come in
many different colors and finishes. Options for stone flooring
include granite tile, slate, travertine, or marble. Although
concrete and stone flooring offer the most durability and
the finest of quality, they also come with a more expensive
price tag.
